How to get to Tegalalang Rice Terrace
Take a flight to Denpansar, it’s the only airport at Bali. From Denpansar we took a cab to Ubud. It cost around 20€ and took 2 hours. In Ubud we rent a scooter for 7€ and drove to the terrace ourself, but you can take a cab or a minivan. Takes about 5-20 minutes depending on were you stay
Where to stay:
Ubud town. It’s quite a small town but stay close to the mainroad if you don’t rent a scooter.

Tegalalang Rice Terrace Price
Scooter around 7€, petrol less than 1€. The Tegalalang Rice Terrace dosen’t have any entrancefee but along the way they have “donations fee”. Every fee cost less than 1€ but you should bring small bills. Depending on how long your walk through the terrace are also the price, but it should not be more than 4€
How much time you need there:
30 minutes – 2 hours, depending on how long you prefere to walk. Tegalalang Rice Terrace is not a whole day activity for most travellers. Check out Top things to do in Ubud, Bali
When to visit Tegalalang Rice Terrace
We went there around lunch time a cloudy day in the middle of november. Wasn’t crowded that day. But I would recomend to visit the Tegalalang Rice Terrace in the morning hours to avoid turists.
Tegalalang Rice Terrace Tips
- Walk on both sides of the river.
- Do not bring big bills.
- The “donations fee people” takes every chans to make more money and say they don’t have change.
Why should Tegalalang Rice Terrace be on my bucket list
It’s just amazing to walk around in the rice terrace. Very peaceful.
