1| WHY DID YOU START YOUR OWN TRAVEL BLOG ?

I could talk travel all day and every day. I had some travel photos up and people started asking me questions about them. Chatting with them was so much fun, I dedicated a page to it. Slowly, it picked up popularity and I started loving it more and more.

2| WHEN DID YOU START YOUR TRAVEL BLOG ?

I started my Travel Blog while I was bored on Thanksgiving break in 2016. I had nothing to do for a week. All my friends were gone and my family was far away, so I started to make a website. I just wanted to learn how to make one, and it turned into this!

3| WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS WITH YOUR BLOG ?

I would love to blog and travel full time. I also would love to incorporate travel and education into my life. Someday, I would love to start a not for profit that gives students the chance to travel that may not have gotten the chance otherwise.

4| 3 TIPS FOR A NEW BLOGGER

  1. Just Start
The hardest part of blogging is starting. How do I make a website? How do I have people to follow? Is my content good? It will all work out, but you need a platform to start.
  2. Share it with friends and family.
You want to grow your email list or your subscribers? Make your family and friends be your first audience. From there, grow with the help of them.
  3. Keep your paragraphs short and writing consist. As a new blogger, you want to include the best information and sometimes the paragraphs get long. Most of the time, half of it could be cut out and the same message would be applied. Be concise and to the point, but make it your own!

5| 3 TIPS FOR A NEW INSTAGRAMMER

  1. Post every day!
Do not overcast as this will turn people away, but always be the person that is pushing out amazing content.
  2. Engage with your followers.
If someone leaves you a comment, make sure to comment back. By doing this, you create brand loyalty, which will lead to more likes and comments.
  3. Lastly, post AMAZING photos.
If you post high-quality photos, people will follow!

Travel Blogger Eric Salz6| HOW OFTEN DO YOU TRAVEL IN A YEAR ?

I usually have one big trip. This year, starting August 9th, I am on a trip with no end date. I have been saving money for he past two years and will be living the dream. First stop is Central America, and after that, we will see.

7| HOW DO YOU FUND YOUR TRAVELS ?

My parents are RICH!!! Just kidding. I could only wish. I fund my travels through hard work and being smart with money. I do not own fancy cars or a fancy house. I prefer to spend my money on experiences, and not things. That has saved me a ton of money (my car is the oldest car in most parking lots…).

8| HOW DO YOU KEEP YOUR BUDGET ?

I am a certified public accountant (CPA). Saving and budgeting come naturally to me. At first, I tracked all my expenditures and had an excel sheet. I do not spend frivolously. Now, I use mint.com to track everything.

9| WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE DESTINATION ?

I love everything SE Asia. The beaches are amazing, the food is out of this world, and the people are so friendly. Whatever you want, you will find it here, and it will be a lot cheaper than anyplace else.

10| HAVE YOU BEEN ANYWHERE WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE TOTALLY DIFFERENT TO HOW YOU IMAGINED ?

Paris! After college, I went on a Euro Trip with some buddies. We had Paris in the lineup because it was on the way. I was not that excited about it but had 3 days to explore. Man, did it blow me out of the water. Such a beautiful city and the people were great to us. We met so many friends along the way. Also, the museums are top notch and the nightlife is fun!

11| HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A TRIP ?

I do very little to prepare for my trips. I like to meet other travelers while on the road and listen to their experience. Things change from the guidebooks and online fast. Talking to people who were just in your next city will be more informative than any book. I have gone to some amazing places, just because I spoke to the right person.

12| WHERE IS YOUR NEXT DESTINATION ?

On August 9th, I have a one-way ticket to Belize! I will spend time traveling and volunteering in Central America. After that, there is a chance of coming home to explore more of the USA, working in Australia, or heading back to Asia. Time will tell!

13| WHAT TYPE OF CAMERA DO YOU USE?

I use many different types of cameras. I have a Canon DSLR, two go pros, and my iPhone. For many photos and for IG, an iPhone will work just fine. Do not feel you have to go out and buy a fancy camera, just to shot amazing photos.

14| WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE TRAVEL QUOTE?

There are so many good ones!!! I like “If you think adventure is dangerous, try routine, it’s lethal”. This is how I want to always live my life!

15| FAVORITE 3 COUNTRIES

Nepal, Vietnam, Colombia

16| TOP 3 DESTINATIONS ON YOU BUCKET LIST

French Polynesian, South Africa, New Zealand
