Giraffe Manor – Nairobi, Kenya

Giraffe Manor

Giraffe Manor is located in Langata, Nairobi, Kenya. It is about 45 minutes from the Nairobi airport, and just outside the busy hustle and bustle of the city. It’s hard to believe that this 15-acre oasis exists in the colorful but hectic city of Nairobi.

How to get to Giraffe Manor?

Giraffe Manor is very easy to get to. Included in your stay is airport and local transportation. They will arrange a driver for you, who will be waiting just outside luggage claim.

Giraffe Manor Price

Prices start at $550 per person per night. However, this includes full board and airport/local transportation.

It is also expected that you tip out your butler at the end of your stay. They are very helpful in getting you settled, as well as being your personal paparazzi while feeding the giraffes. A tip of $10 per day is acceptable.

If you decided to visit the Giraffe Center just down the road from Giraffe Manor, there is no entry fee for guests of the manor, but the staff can be quite busy with tips and persuading you to sit through a not so short presentation.

The experience you get with the giraffes at Giraffe Manor is so special and unique, the Visitor Center is not needed. It was something I could have passed on.

How much time do you need there

The recommended stay time is two nights, but I only did 1 night and two full days. Although I would have loved to have stayed with the giraffes forever, 1 night was sufficient.

Aside from feeding the giraffes at sundown and sunrise, there is not a lot else to do but relax and enjoy your beautiful stay!

When is the best time to visit Giraffe Manor

Giraffe Manor is great all year! However, the manor fills up quickly so you must make reservations months and months in advance.

Tip: Sometimes Travel Agencies book rooms in advance. Try contacting them if your dates are all booked. I used African Adventure Consultants! Kent was unbelievable in making it all happen!

What to do there

We arrived in time for lunch, which we ate out on the terrace. We were visited by the local warthogs, hoping we would drop some of your lunch their way. They can be a little pushy, but adorable none the less. The staff do their best to keep them at bay.

We then visited the Giraffe Center for about an hour (again this can be skipped).

We came back to freshen up before cocktail hour. This is not to be missed! As the sun goes down and you sip on your chilled wine, the giraffes slowly make their way to the terrace. And just like that these magnificent giants approach you and the sunset feeding begins. It was without a doubt one of the most jaw dropping experiences of my life.

After the giraffes have moved on, dinner is served. You can request a private candlelit dinner somewhere tucked away in one of the old stone manors secret rooms. A perfect end to magical day!

Make sure you set your alarm for 5:30/6:00 am. But don’t worry, you won’t miss the tapping at your window as the giraffes come by in the morning, hungry for breakfast. You can open your windows or come down to the dining hall to feed them. Your butler will assist along the way.

Image breakfast alongside a hungry giraffe! Everyday should start this way!

Why should Giraffe Manor be on my bucket list?

Giraffe Manor is what dreams are made of! Imagine waking up to giraffes at your window…Sharing breakfast with these beautiful creatures… Exchanging kisses with them and so much more! It will be a memory you will never forget. The whole time you will be pinching yourself, but rest assure Giraffe Manor is real and waiting for you!
