Getting to the Borobudur Temple

Most travelers usually stay in the city of Yogyakarta and take different tours from there, but you can stay in the areas near the temples as well. Take a private tour or a shared tour from Tours the famous Malioboro Street in Yogyakarta. On the tour you will also see the Prambanan Temple on the same day.

Another option is to take the public bus service (cheaper). Although this option does not allow you to see the Prambanan Temple on the same day. And if you really are an adventurer, you can always rent a motorcycle and enjoy the ride to the temples. The views are amazing!

How much time do you need at the Borobudur temple:

There is the possibility of seeing the temples in just one day but I recommend spending at least two to enjoy the city and the fabolous people of Java.

When is the best time to go:

If you want to have a spectacular views of the temples without tourists I recommend buying the sunset / sunrise ticket, especially at Borobudur temple. If you do not want to spend so much money, I recommend that you be there when the temple opens to be the first to accede. At that time there are only foreign tourists and very few local tourists. From 10 am the temples are filled with local tourists although it is very funny, because they love foreigner people and they ask you for photos constantly. Do you want to feel famous for a day? You know how to do it!

What to do at the Borobudur temple

All you have to do is enjoy the wonders that have given you these two different cultures; The Buddhist (in Borobudur, the most biggest Buddhist temple in the world) and the Hindu (Prambanan temple). I recommend hiring a guide with the tour or taking information from the temples to know more about its amazing history and do not miss any details.
