If you are staying in one of the hostels in the town (Vang Vieng), getting to the Blue Lagoon is very easy. There are 2 options.
Option 1 is to flag down a tuk tuk and negotiate a price. The average amount for a return trip is 30,000-50,000 KIP (4USD-6USD) per person.
Option 2 is to hire a bike for the day. It comes out to be the same price also depending on your negotiating skills.

With getting to the Lagoon you must cross a toll bridge. It is 4000KIP(.50USD) per person if you are on a tuk tuk and 6000KIP(.70USD) if you are on a bike. The price to get into the Lagoon is 10,000KIP(2USD). I do advice to bring extra money. They charge for little things once you enter like life jackets, snacks, to use the bathroom, to go down a slide, and to explore a cave that is nearby.

When is the best time to go

The Blue Lagoon Vang Vieng is a big tourist attraction. The best time to go to truly enjoy the experience is right when It opens. Another time is during lunch. Since it’s such a big family place, they all get out of the lagoon during lunch to eat and around 12-1pm the lagoon is surprisingly empty.

What to do there

Swimming in the actual Lagoon is very important. You can use a rope and swing into the water. It is such a cool experience. You can get awesome pictures on the swing. If you are done with water and you’re looking for more adventure there is a cave you can explore. The cave is free but they make you pay for a torch because its extremely dark. The cost of the torch was 10,000KIP(2USD).

Why should The Blue Lagoon Vang Vieng be on my bucket list?

The Blue Lagoon Vang Vieng should be on your bucket list because it truly was beautiful. When there is no one in the water and the water is just still, it’s all completely peaceful. I got to swing into the water and the minute I got in the fish started to swim around me. It’s one of those moments you tell yourself you don’t want to ever forget.
